Subject: Court Fools

I'm having some difficulty locating good reference material on fools and jesters
attached to courts or nobles' retinues.

I don't have access to an extensive library or interlibrary loan, but
nevertheless if there are books specifically on this subject I'd be most
grateful for the reference. Or if there's online information that doesn't
require going through 413,000 websites of crap, that would be a godsend.

Also looking for descriptions of productions of Shakespeare that have played any
of the court fools (e.g. Lear's Fool, Feste, Trinculo, etc.) as dwarfs or as
people with physical deformities. I'm a stage director developing a puppet/mask
production of TEMPEST for Sept. '09 and considering this as an option.

Thanks,
Conrad Bishop
