SHAKSPER 2008: Aaron Manson
From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@SHAKSPER.NET) Date: 09/01/08
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 19.0520 Monday, 1 September 2008 From: Sam Small <sam@smallscape.co.uk> Date: Friday, 29 Aug 2008 16:23:46 +0100 Subject: Aaron Manson Whilst channel hopping and eating my lunch one day this week (I know, terrible habit) I came across the repugnant Charles Manson holding forth on his favourite philosophical tenets. One has to assume he is not an avid reader of Shakespeare's works but what he was saying went something like this. "I killed a few. Killing 400 people. Now there's a real contribution." "Give me a chance and I'll kill you all!" And one that made me shiver -- "I only regret I didn't kill more of 'em." and I remembered some lines spoke by Aaron in Titus Andronicus. Act 5 Scene 1 LUCIUS: Art thou not sorry for these heinous deeds? AARON: Ay, that I had not done a thousand more. ........................... Tut, I have done a thousand dreadful things As willingly as one would kill a fly, And nothing grieves me heartily indeed But that I cannot do ten thousand more. Spooky or what?
