Since its founding in 1986, the Center for Shakespeare Studies has connected the realms of Shakespeare performance, teaching, and scholarship. The mission of the Center for Shakespeare Studies is to advance Shakespeare studies in local, regional, and national arenas by forging connections between theatrical performance and academic study of Shakespeare's plays, actively promoting Shakespeare research and scholarship, and creating and delivering educational programs. APPLY AT www.sou.edu/hrs then link to Online Postings and Applications and go to position #0600083 Representative Center activities include: -Minor in Shakespeare Studies - www.sou.edu/shakespeare -Collaborative initiatives with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival - www.osfashland.org -Visiting groups program (3500-4000 students annually) -NEH national summer institute for school teachers -Spring Shakespeare symposium -Shakespeare in the Library lecture series -Shakespeare on Film and other public lectures -Shakespeare in performance pedagogy and scholarship As the founding director prepares to retire, SOU is searching for a new performance oriented scholar who is committed to the greater scope of dramatic literature, with specialization in Shakespeare in performance. The selected candidate's position will be Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure-track, and a member of the Theatre Arts Department. The position is divided equally between teaching (.5 FTE, or 4-5 classes per year), and administration (.5 FTE) of Center for Shakespeare Studies programs, including program development. Teaching assignments may include University Studies/Seminar, online course, Medford and Ashland campus classes, and day, evening and weekend courses. Minimum Requirements: -PhD in Theatre, English, Renaissance Literature, or related area -Expertise in Shakespeare scholarship, criticism, and performance history -Experience in Shakespeare dramaturgy/production -Experience with program development and curriculum development -Interest in working with public school teachers -Excellent writing and oral communication skills Preferred Requirements: -Experience teaching in higher education -Fiscal management skills -Proven record of securing external funding _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
