The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 19.0279 Friday, 9 May 2008 From: Nicole Coonradt <nmcoonradt@comcast.net> Date: Thursday, 08 May 2008 20:18:33 +0000 Subject: 19.0270 Southampton Portrait Discovered Comment: Re: SHK 19.0270 Southampton Portrait Discovered Sorry, was this per my post? I was responding to the article at the link that JD provided -- i.e., the copy said her teeth were black. Maybe contact the author of the article, Catherine Kozak? Here is the passage in question: 'One example she cited was a German traveler to the English court, who described the queen's face as "oblong, fair, but wrinkled; her eyes small, yet black and pleasant; her nose a little hooked; her lips narrow, and her teeth black" ' (para. 14). That's all I've got. Best wishes, Nicole _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
