Subject:	Shakespeare 24

Shakespeare 24 is a worldwide Shakespeare performance event. Beginning 
in New Zealand and ending 24 hours later in Hawaii, 60 youth groups will 
stage 30 and 45 minute adaptations of Shakespeare's plays at 7 pm, local 
time on Shakespeare's 444th birthday, April 23rd 2008.

Shakespeare 24 is open to every 11-21 year old worldwide. Performances 
will take place in languages as diverse and varied as the participants 
themselves. Youth groups will produce their own interpretations of 
Shakespeare, which may include the use of local dance, music, and 
performance art forms.

Shakespeare 24 will be repeated on an ever increasing scale in the years 
leading up to the London Olympics 2012 to which countries will be 
invited to be represented by a youth/school group.

Shakespeare 24 will enable all international groups to communicate 
online, in partnership with Facebook, the social networking website.
