From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@SHAKSPER.NET) Date: 12/04/07
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 18.0805 Tuesday, 4 December 2007 From: Red Bull Theater <info@redbulltheater.com> Date: 4 Dec 2007 21:02:25 -0000 Subject: Edward the Second Previews <http://www.redbulltheater.com> <http://www.redbulltheater.com> Red Bull Theater presents the World Premiere of Garland Wright's adaptation of Edward the Second, Christopher Marlowe's masterpiece of sex and politics. In this intensely provocative play, King Edward the Second asserts his right to have the private life he desires, only to have his love, his life and his kingdom destroyed. Do those in power have the right to a personal life? Should private needs be sacrificed for "the greater good?" Love at any cost? The greatest tragedy by Shakespeare's greatest peer comes to stunning new life in the first Off-Broadway revival of Christopher Marlowe's Edward the Second in over 30 years. Benefit Tickets are also still available. Join host Mark Rylance for the Saturday, December 15 performance at 8:30 pm and support Red Bull Theater while enjoying pre-show cocktails and a post-performance party. Expected special guests include Michael Urie (Ugly Betty, Revenger's Tragedy), Michael Emerson (Lost, Gross Indecency), Michael Stuhlbarg (Pillowman), Daniel Breaker (Pericles), and other favorite Red Bull Theater actors and designers.
