Well, we know that playhouses maintained libraries of playscripts, and
we know that at least some scripts were kept at the playhouse. But, of
course, there is a big difference between scripts and reference books.
Would a big name dramatist like Shakespeare be able to obtain a research
budget -- with the expectation that the books purchased on this budget
be kept in the playhouse library?
