Comment: Re: SHK 17.0532 A Roof on the Globe? Thanks to David Crystal for arraying the reviews of the Globe's Titus production. Personally, I have to wonder what the point of having a duplicate of the original Globe unless you are going to replicate Globe productions. If the Globe format is too confining, why not have a flexible theater in which you occasionally build an Olde Globe set and mount a mimeo'd Elizabethan drama? William Dudley's set plainly protests any original staging of Titus, so why have it at the Globe at all? I am truly ambivalent about this issue, so this is not devil's advocacy. BTW what in general has been the history of replica Globes? The one in Stratford, Connecticut, has been closed for years, but I gather that the Globe on Bankside has directly inspired re-creations in Italy and elsewhere.
