SHAKSPER 2006: Livewire Shakespeare
From: SHAKSPER Editor (editor@shaksper.net) Date: 05/03/06
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 17.0384 Wednesday, 3 May 2006 From: Mike Jensen <jensensh@hotmail.com> Date: Tuesday, 02 May 2006 09:01:30 -0700 Subject: Livewire Shakespeare I am trapped in a Catch-22. I am working on an article about the history of Shakespeare comic books for SNL. There is a series in the U. K. called "Livewire Shakespeare," published by Cambridge University Press. Some of their titles have been published in the U. S. by Barron's, but four have not. These are not currently on the Barron's publishing schedule, nor is CUP New York planning to publish them. CUP in England tells me they can not ship review copies to North America. This is insipid, obviously, but it is what I have to work with. I hope some members of SHAKSPER who have seen the four titles I can not get will write to me off-list to tell me what they think of each title. I have a strong impression of the series as a whole from the five titles I have read, so I'm looking for what you think of the strengths and weaknesses of the following books: Richard III Much Ado Tempest Henry V Please send your message off-list to spare Hardy, and put "Livewire Shakespeare" in the subject field so that your message will escape my spam filter. Thank you in advance.
