SHAKSPER 2005: A Notable Amateur "Shrew" in New Jersey
From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@shaksper.net) Date: 11/14/05
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 16.1871 Monday, 14 November 2005 From: John W. Kennedy <jwkenne@attglobal.net> Date: Sunday, 13 Nov 2005 10:49:35 -0500 Subject: A Notable Amateur "Shrew" in New Jersey I just saw an amateur "Taming of the Shrew" at the Circle Players in Piscataway, NJ (<URL:http://circleplayers.com/>) that I thought I should mention here, as it has one more weekend to go. It's flawed, of course, as any amateur production will inevitably be, but in some respects I really thought it the most thoroughly satisfactory performance of "Shrew" I can recall, dodging all the many bullets a production has to dodge today without compromising the play's integrity. (Mandatory full disclosure: Paul Salvatoriello and I, he being the Petrucchio in this production, performed together in a "Midsummer Night's Dream" by the same company, two years ago.) _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
