From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@shaksper.net) Date: 12/16/04
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 15.2121 Thursday, 16 December 2004 From: Norman Hinton <hinton@springnet1.com> Date: Wednesday, 15 Dec 2004 13:58:18 -0600 Subject: 15.2113 Macbeth Characters Comment: Re: SHK 15.2113 Macbeth Characters They aren't standardized in Shaw, either. He tends to use abstract labels (Old Man, etc.) until a character is introduced by name. Cf. Heartbreak House for good examples. >These are dangerous assumptions, but perhaps most dangerous is the >assumption that speech prefixes were or should have been standardised in >Renaissance play books. They weren't. _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
