Whether or not Casim Khan (Atta Yaqub), a second-generation Pakistani immigrant living in Glasgow with his devoutly Muslim family, and Roison Hanlon (Eva Birththistle), a spirited Scottish teacher in a Catholic school remain together, the movie leaves you with nagging worries about the future of any intercultural relationship once the passion cools. English-language East-West domestic dramas usually tip the scales in favor of modernity, with the high-principled, hidebound Asians, headed by a fulminating patriarch ultimately to be pitied for their rigidity and adherence to traditional ways. But "A Fond Kiss" is equally sympathetic to both sides. - Stephen Holden, The New York Time _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
