Stanley Wells writes,

 >During a little ceremony at the Shakespeare Centre I've just been
 >reading aloud from Leigh Hunt's charming essay 'Shakespeare's Birthday',
 >printed on 3 May 1820, which begins 'Next Friday, making the proper
 >allowance of twelve days from the 23rd of April, according to the change
 >of the Style, is the birthday of Shakespeare.'
 >
 >So should we postpone the celebrations? Or just have two sets?

Perhaps it may be Bardolatry in action: twelve days of Christmas, twelve
Shakespeare???
