Subject: New Shakespeare Company in Boston

Members of the list, especially those in New England, will, I hope,
welcome the news that a new professional theater company devoted to
Shakespeare has been established in Boston. The Actors Shakespeare
Project plans to perform actor-centered productions with minimal
material resources in spaces not normally used as theaters - the modern
equivalent of innyards, manorial halls, and decommissioned monasteries.
Their 2004-2005 season will be politically oriented (occidented?):
*Richard III* in the fall, *Measure for Measure* in the winter, *Julius
Caesar* in the spring. The 15 members of the company are all
experienced Equity professionals already well-known in the area. The
initiating spirit and Artistic Director is Benjamin Evett, so I take a
parental interest in the project- but believe that it will be a fine new
resource for people who care about our playwright.
