Kenneth Campbell <director@bardlineacademy.com> Date: Tuesday, 10 Feb 2004 22:47:38 -0800 Subject: Bloom and Kushner to Hold Benefit for CSC Thought this might be of interest to the list Kenneth Jones Playbill On-Line Classic Stage Company, currently staging artistic director Brian Kulick's refraction of Bible stories, The Mysteries, presents a conversation between Harold Bloom and Tony Kushner on the subject of religion and theatre March 22. The one-night evening, Theatre and Religion: The World's Oldest Couple, is a benefit for CSC, but is held at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. In what's billed as a "rare pairing" between Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning playwright and author Tony Kushner (Angels in America) and acclaimed critic and scholar Harold Bloom, the two will meet to "discuss the rich canon of dramatic works from the Greeks up to Kushner's own two part drama, Angels in America." The event will take place at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, 65th Street and Broadway, 7 PM March 22. Bloom penned the best-sellers, "The Western Canon: The Books and School of Ages," nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award, and "Shakespeare: Invention of the Human."
