Would Shakespeare pass an entrance exam? Somehow, with his apparent
impatience for pedantry (see Love's Labours Lost among others), I rather
doubt it. I also doubt that he would WANT to.

The one thing I am certain of, after studying Shakespeare for about a
decade at university myself, is that if Shakespeare DID enrol, the daily
grind of academic rigour, self-analysis, footnoting, peer review,
grading and correction would almost certainly crush every ounce of
creative life out of his writing.

Send Shakespeare to college and you probably get -- Samuel Johnson?

Yours,
Ken
