Subject: Ophelia's Name

Forum,

A correspondent has pointed out to me that Ruskin noted that Ophelia's
name means "serviceable" in Greek.

I think it is worth noting that her name is an adjective, because under
the doctrine of Nominalism, adjectives are one class of angel, which
might help explain why Laertes says his sister will remain an angel when
all others lie howling.

Best,
D-
