I'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree that that list moderation is
a good thing. I think it depends on the list and the topics discussed.
For this particular list it works fairly well; the moderator is
impartial and people are learning and discussing their particular
viewpoints. However, I'm a member of a list that serves a local
community interest and due to some battered egos they've decided to
moderate the list so that they can censor individuals they don't like
anymore. Yeah it's childish and I'm disgusted by it; use of the list has
dropped significantly by everyone because most of the people value their
freedom of speech and there's an unmoderated list set up for pretty much
the same topics. I think the one and only complaint I have with this
list being moderated is that I have to wait til the next day for the
enlightening comments of this list's members.  That said, I think that
our list moderator does a superb job!
