Or, did the theater companies own books their authors would use
repeatedly? Would the King's Men have had a copy of Holinshed? Would
Henslowe have hand a copy for use among the playwrights?

Another question:  would Shakespeare have kept his books, assuming that
he did purchase books, in his "library" at Stratford?  Perhaps
Shakespeare rode home every weekend to read and write, but some scholars
assume that his trips to Stratford were rare.  I have assumed, from not
much evidence, that Shakespeare did his research and writing some place
in London. Perhaps in his room at night by candlelight?
