SHAKSPER 2003: Another Quiz Question

The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 14.2341 Thursday, 11 December 2003 From: John Savage <j-a-savage@mindspring.com> Date: Wednesday, 10 Dec 2003 17:05:37 -0500 (GMT-05:00) Subject: Another Quiz Question Recently you SHAKSPER-type folks answered (with little difficulty) a quiz question I had posted from our Shakespeare site. I wondered how you'd do with this one: I'm going to tell you about a very strange dream I had recently. I'm sure it has some deep and important meaning, but I don't know what it is. Perhaps you can help me understand it. In this dream I was on a Beautiful Hill, a real Mountain of Happiness, and I seemed to be enjoying a Feast of some kind. I think I was near a Large City in Central Florida, next to a Boat Dock, a place for small boats, while off in the distance at sea there was a Fleet of Ships that seemed to be threatening the peace. I feared nothing, however, because I was accompanied by an Angel as well as by my bodyguard named Armstrong, even though there were some people about who were not so nice: a Drunkard, for example, who was with a strange Chap Who Could Change His Shape whenever he wanted to. These characters had with them a circus animal, a Little Bear who wore a Garland of Roses. As you see, it was a strange dream. However, I was actually enjoying myself because I was accompanied by attractive, if somewhat neurotic, women: there was Little Blondie, for one, and a girl I know who just seems to be Lost most of the time. Just when things were going good a villainous type from France came on the scene, Nicolas Derriere was his name, definitely a person of Ill-Will. However, I decided he was mostly just Words -- he Wasn't Very Deep -- and therefore was nothing to worry about. Well, that was my dream. It seems to make no sense at all. Except... The words and phrases that begin with capital letters are Shakespearean references (some of them, admittedly, a bit oblique). There are eighteen of 'em. My guess is that SHAKSPER members will be able to identify them all with no trouble.
