While I don't have a pop-culture reference to add, Philip's post about
Buffy and MoV made me stop to think about what a literate, and literary
show it really is.

Anyone who has ever enjoyed a musical should seek out the musical
episode in series six (entitled "Once More, With Feeling"), with its
huge range of clever references to Broadway gimmicks and styles. I
mention it because the genesis of this episode, according to
writer/director (and Stephen Sondheim's natural heir) Joss Whedon, lay
in after-work evenings the cast and crew would spend at Whedon's home
drinking tequila and reading Shakespeare aloud to one another.

Here's to eclectic tastes!

Anna.
