SHAKSPER 2002: Garbles in Shakespeare
From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@shaksper.net) Date: 12/31/02
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 13.2482 Tuesday, 31 December 2002 From: Al Magary <al@magary.com> Date: Monday, 30 Dec 2002 14:07:53 -0800 Subject: Garbles in Shakespeare I'd like to identify prevailing editorial practice when it comes to garbles in original texts. Deciding to be a good boy, I searched the SHAKSPER archives (for "garble") but found very little discussion of this topic, and only a mention of a possible garble in MV: http://www.shaksper.net/archives/1995/0350.html (msg #1). (Errors or garbles in transcribed texts were noted more often.) Can a few instances of garbles in Sh. and other Tudor texts be pointed out to me so that I can see how editors dealt with them? Thanks in advance, Al Magary _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
