The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 13.2036 Tuesday, 8 October 2002 From: Martin Steward <MSteward@mds1974.freeserve.co.uk> Date: Tuesday, 8 Oct 2002 11:21:39 +0100 Subject: 13.2023 "Barbican to stage the Bard - without RSC" Comment: Re: SHK 13.2023 "Barbican to stage the Bard - without RSC" I am very pleased to hear that "that at last £12.2m is to be spent to sort out the Barbican's maze of a foyer". Whenever I go there I feel like I've wondered into a life-sized M C Escher drawing. Cf. the magnificent Royal Festival Hall, whose ingenious "egg-in-a-box" construction somehow happily agrees with a perfect clarity of orientation. (Shame it's ugly on the outside and situated next to the even uglier Hayward Gallery.) _______________________________________________________________ S H A K S P E R: The Global Shakespeare Discussion List Hardy M.
