Fifth century indeed -- dumb mistake.

As to catastrophic (for Athens): I have long been under the impression
that the war largely wrecked both their economy and their
socio-political fabric, leaving them in a condition where they were
dominated in succession by the Spartans, the Macedonians, and the
Romans.

Is this incorrect? Or did I fail to make clear what I meant by
catastrophic? I will defer to your greater knowledge.
