Subject: Job Opening
I pass along the following notice from my shop:
The Dept. of English Lang. & Literature, National University of
Singapore, is advertising the post of Asst. Prof. (tenure track) in
Early Modern Lit. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
Elizn and/or Metaphysical poetry and one or more of the following:
-- late medieval literature
-- multi-disciplinary approaches to the Renaissance
-- cross-cultural or comparative studies in early modern lit
-- literature and the other arts in the early modern period
-- aesthetics and the history and theory of crit., focussing on
the early modern
Candidates should have Ph. D., a record of publication, and teaching
ability. We may give preference to those with teaching experience at
Univ. level.
NUS expects the highest standards of teaching and scholarship from its
faculty. In return it offers excellent terms and conditions. There is
considerable support for research, including grants for research
projects, conference money and a very well funded library [currently
2.2m volumes, by the way]. Salary range in the Asst. Prof. scale is
S$72,000-144,000 per year. [Conv. rate approx. 1.8S:1.0US]
