Subject: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Names

A question has come to my attention from an advanced student concerning
the names of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. G. R. Hibbard cites Bullough
that Elizabeth's ambassador to the Danish coronation in 1588 met
Rosencrantzes and Guidlensterns in court circles and that there for
these were normal Danish names.

However, one student suggested that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern seemed
to him to be Jewish names. I don't have any support for this but would
welcome any comment about the possibility.

Thanks for any advice,

Tom Simone
