Subject:        L.A. Law Shakespeare citations

I think someone may have mentioned this episode of L.A. Law, but, in
case not, I'll mention it.

Today, there was a plot abut a Brit candy bar exporter (the is named the
Teddy Bar and is chocolate) was being sued by an American who contracted
with him to be the sole importer in the U.S.  So the Brit exported to
Canada and "dumped" his bars there so that they flooded the U.S. market
and drove the American out of business.  The Brit's lawyer is also a
Brit (named Sir Nigel), and he twice cites Shakespeare, though without
naming the play or mentioning Shakespeare.  The first was from Macbeth
:"fair is foul, foul is fair  . ." and the second was Portia's "The
quality of mercy is not strained. .. ").  The second had some ironic
relevance since the Brit was a kind of legalistic letter of the law
Shylock figure and, of course, a foreigner at the trial.
