SHAKSPER 2000: Shakespeare's Contemporaries on CD
From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@ws.bowiestate.edu) Date: 12/18/00
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 11.2354 Monday, 18 December 2000 From: Tanya Gough <yorick@bardcentral.com> Date: Friday, 15 Dec 2000 16:59:21 -0500 Subject: Shakespeare's Contemporaries on CD Here's a (not entirely) hypothetical question for the group: Supposing a group of enthusiastic actors, let's say veterans of the Stratford Festival stage for arguments sake, were interested in producing a series of audio cds and cassettes of Shakespeare's contemporaries' play (unabridged, of course). The cds would be recorded in a proper sound studio with proper engineering, of at least as good quality as the Naxos or Penguin tapes. Suppose this group wanted to compile a list of five or so plays to start with, with the possibility of adding more titles, and even video versions down the line. What plays do you most want to have available in audio format? What authors do you have most urgent need for? Toss in a text version you would like them to be based on, if you have a recommendation. Responses off list would be greatly appreciated. Hypothetically yours, Tanya Gough Poor Yorick
