The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 11.2296 Monday, 10 December 2000 From: Tim Perfect <tim_perfect@yahoo.com> Date: Friday, 8 Dec 2000 21:12:06 -0800 (PST) Subject: 11.2271 Re: Julie Taymor's TITUS Comment: Re: SHK 11.2271 Re: Julie Taymor's TITUS As an occasional contributor/lurker on this list, I am somewhat troubled by what Pervez Rizvi has stated. While I can appreciate the purpose behind his statements, I think that what has been said could prove to silence anyone not of a "scholarly" background in Shakespeare, myself included. I come from the performance side of the house, rather than the scholarly, if one can make that distinction. I am by no means a scholar Now, that's not to say that I don't agree that all members should consider well their statements before submission, but to me, at least, the non-scholarly or "amateur" do have as much to offer to this list. On the other hand, perhaps I have misread the purpose of this list entirely, and for that I apologize. Tim Perfect
