Arabian tribes were referred to as "los alarbes".

I presume that Alarbe = Al Arabe, "al" being the definite article in
Arabic as in algebra, alchemy and Aldebaran.

Roman outposts where set up as far as the Arabian peninsula, to control
the spice trade, inter alia.
