The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 11.0419 Wednesday, 1 March 2000. From: David M Richman <dmr@cisunix.unh.edu> Date: Monday, 28 Feb 2000 10:42:12 -0500 (EST) Subject: 11.0401 Double Time in MforM Comment: Re: SHK 11.0401 Double Time in MforM Again, I wouldn't be two exacting regarding questions of time. Presumably, Claudio gets a stay in exchange for Isabella's second interview. Isabella's naiveté regarding sexual matters may be sufficient explanation for her not knowing that Cousin Juliet is about to give birth-though her baby, unlike Perdita, is not born in prison during the action. As to comedy and marriage, Dana is, I think, right on all counts. The ending, with its open-ended silences, is deliberately and deliciously problematic. David Richman
