Roth Commits to Direct 'Lear'

NEW YORK (Variety) - After making his directorial debut chronicling an
incest-infested family in last year's 'The War Zone,' Tim Roth will make
his follow-up with the ultimate dysfunctional family tale, Shakespeare's
'King Lear.' A script is being written by playwright Harold Pinter, who
had sparked to 'The War Zone.' Pinter's film credits include 'The French
Lieutenant's Woman' and 'The Last Tycoon,' and 'Lear' will be his first
screen adaptation of Shakespeare.
