From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@ws.bowiestate.edu) Date: 01/12/00
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 11.0068 Wednesday, 12 January 2000. From: Michael Lewis <mlewis@nisusa.net> Date: Tuesday, 11 Jan 2000 16:27:42 -0500 Subject: Author Search [Editor's Note: Because this query comes from someone who is not a member of SHAKSPER, please send replies directly to Michael Lewis <mlewis@nisusa.net>. --HMC] I am an acquisitions editor at a book publisher, and I'm looking for an author to write a book, tentatively titled The Shakespeare Book of Lists. I was referred to you by Georgianna Ziegler of the Folger web site who thought you might have an interest. I see this as a "Fun Reference," containing both useful and trivial information, with author compiling info in an interesting, eclectic format. The reader never knows from one page to the next what he’ll find, a diverse collection of Lists, many with appropriate elaboration and commentary surrounding Shakespeare and his work, e.g. The Shakespeare Timeline: 97 Events Surrounding the Bard's Life and Work, 83 Key Characters in Shakespeare's Plays, 68 Classic Lines from Shakespeare's Plays, The 12 Best Screen Adaptations of Shakespeare's Works, 23 Best Shakespeare Sites on the Web, The Shakespeare Travel Guide: A Walking Tour of 32 Sites...perhaps even a list ranking Shakespeare's Best Comedies, Best Tragedies, etc. The idea has been approved, it's now my job to find the perfect author. If you are interested in discussing this project, or you know someone who may be interested, can you please contact me? At this point, I am actively discussing the project with several potential authors. I look forward to hearing from you. Mike Lewis Career Press; 201-848-0310 x 531
