From: Hardy M. Cook (editor@ws.bowiestate.edu) Date: 01/08/00
The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 11.0034 Saturday, 8 January 2000. From: John W. Mahon <jmahon@iona.edu> Date: Thursday, 6 Jan 2000 19:21:18 -0500 Subject: RIP: Harold Jenkins Shakespeareans around the world will mourn the passing of Professor Harold Jenkins, on Tuesday, 4 January, in Ashtead, Surrey, England. Professor Jenkins celebrated his 90th birthday last July but had suffered a number of setbacks in recent months. Those many people whose lives he touched over the years will regret never being able to see him again and never again receiving one of his always-welcome letters. But they will also rejoice that he has now joined his beloved Gladys again after a fifteen-year separation and that he rests in peace. They will also rejoice to reflect on the extraordinary intellectual contribution Professor Jenkins made in so many areas of Shakespearean scholarship. --John W. Mahon Co-Editor, "The Shakespeare Newsletter"
