Subject:        Policy Regarding Book Announcements

Dear SHAKSPEReans,

A new member wrote me:

     I assume that members are not to use the server for pure
     advertisement, e.g. of books, but that you are happy for authors,
for
     example, to tell other Shakespeareans of the details of their books
and
     refer them, for example, to the CUP web site, where fuller details
are given?

I also presented this inquiry to the SHAKSPER Senior Advisory Board.
Although many expressed reservations, the idea was almost universally
accepted.

From now on, authors who are members of SHAKSPER may post brief
announcements regarding their new publications with links to the
publisher's web site. I, however, will reserve the right to make my own
judgment about the appropriateness of individual announcements.

As in the past, authors are also encouraged to mention any of their
works that are related to any on-going discussion.
