The Victorian bishop, attending a girl's-school production of MND, said

female Bottom. Now anyone with a VCR can...

In one of Cyril Hare's classic detective stories, "The Wind Blows
Death," a crucial alibi hinges on a clarinetist's playing in a concert
on the night of the murder. It turns out that the particular Mozart
symphony doesn't include any clarinets, so an accomplice could simply
stand around holding a clarinet. Perhaps some murderous member of the
theatrical profession will deceive PC Plod by claiming to have been
playing Innogen or Nedar on the night in question...
