Subject: "pyramid" in Two Noble Kinsmen

In The Two Noble Kinsmen, Palamon and Arcite are to duel for the hand of
Emilia, and here is the direction given by Theseus, Duke of Athens:

. . . I'll plant a pyramid; and whether,
Before us that are here, can force his cousin,
By fair and knightly strength, to touch the pillar,
He shall enjoy her; the other lose his head. (3.6.292-95, Norton ed.)

What is the pyramid, and what and where is the pillar? Thanks in
advance for the enlightenment.
