The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 10.1344 Friday, 30 July 1999. From: Gabriel Egan <gabriel@dmu-english.freeserve.co.uk> Date: Thursday, 29 Jul 1999 12:28:33 +0100 Subject: Re: "Houses"? John Savage asks for views on "houses": >[What about] Platter's note about an actor going into a >tent onstage? It's a small point, but I have a piece coming out in Notes&Queries on this. The gist is that we can rely on Platter referring to the physical reality of the playhouse, not the imagined location of the scene (in other cases we can't be sure about that). Also, it was quite likely the Boar's Head, not the Curtain, he went to. I'd be happy to elaborate off list. Gabriel Egan
