I write:

I suppose one could also argue that we do not know if Shakespeare had
any interest in playwrighting because we do not know if his Shareholders
Shanghaied (sp.?) him to write all those plays.

PS:  We do know, by the way, that Shakespeare took great liberties with
his sources.  Just compare Lear with Lier.
