Subject:        Rhetoric

I am wondering how fellow list members feel about the role of rhetoric
in training actors.  Are there actor training programs that discuss the
rules of rhetoric?  Are there any directors, who feel it has any value
in rehearsal?  Is an understanding of rhetoric to much of an
"intellectual" exercise?  As for myself, I know very little about
rhetoric, but the subject has come up recently in a directing class and
I thought I'd canvas the list.
