Dear Friends,

Thanks to all for your quick responses about textually localizing
"Shakespeare as TV writer."  Thanks especially to Nora Kreimer for the
specific section from the Kott retrospective.

For Peggy O'Brien-ooops!  Didn't mean to suggest that the promulgators
of the sentiment were old themselves (or cliched, for that matter),
merely that the idea is nowadays so common that I couldn't figure out if
it had an originator.  Sorry.

This is so true.  This is the reason that well acted audio-versions of
the play are such a joy to listen to.  For my part I have even gone so
far as to copy movie version onto to audiotapes that I can listen to
them while driving.
