VRML Dream was the virtual reality theatre production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream that was broadcast over the Internet on 26 April 1998. The first two scenes from that production have been re-edited and are available for people to experience a streaming virtual reality theatre performance using the VRML Dream Interface (VDI). Access to the sample performance is available at http://www.vrmldream.com/vrmldream/dreamsample.html. To view the sample, you will need at least a 28.8 K modem and a 150 Mhz Pentium computer. You will also need a Web browser with a VRML plug-in. We have tested the VRML Dream system on a variety of configurations, and have found that it works with the following: * Netscape 4.x and the Cosmo Player 2.0 * Internet Explorer 4.x and the Worldview Player 2.1 The VRML Dream Interface also uses Real Time Protocol (RTP) and GSM compression to stream the audio for the performance. In order to hear the audio, you will need an RTP player that can handle GSM compression. We have tested the system using the Speak Freely player and have made it available for download at http://www.vrmldream.com/downloads/speakfb.zip. The VRML Dream Company develops streaming, 3-D real-time interactive content for a variety of markets. We have combined various Internet standards with proprietary software to stream synchronized audio and motion data for virtual reality theatre performances and broadcasts, interactive 3-D experiences, and specialized training and simulation applications. And best of all, our content can be viewed using a home computer and a standard modem connection. We also provide custom development services for business and industry.
