Subject:        *As You Like It* Productions

Dear Colleagues,

The College of Santa Fe's Performing Arts Department is staging a
production of *As You Like It* this fall, and I am assisting as the
production's dramaturg.

Could anyone recommend stage performance or stage history materials,
especially for a production that is set in the 1960s.  The director and
I have already looked at Jay Halio's helpful annotated bibliography and
at John Russell Brown's casebook on *Much Ado* and "As You Like It.*  We
have also acquired general information on primogeniture law, as
practiced in England and France.  Opposing viewpoints of American
history (several publications by Greenhaven Press) round out what we
have collected thus far.

These sources constitute a beginning point for us.  The director and I
plan to work closely with the student assistant director and with the
students cast in the play to unearth additional support materials for
our production.

I would greatly appreciate any tips from the members of SHAKSPER, with
regard to source materials, performance histories, etc., which have been
especially helpful to you-either in the classroom or in a live
performance.
