In Sigurd Burckhardt's SHAKESPEAREAN MEANINGS there's a chapter on
"nothing" in KING LEAR--there's also a chapter on "NOTHING" in Terry
Eagleton's WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE BOOK. Harold Goddard largely forsakes
discussion of the play MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in his chapter to ruminate
on the word "nothing." Of course, I'm curious if there's much feminist
stuff linking the "spiritual" meaning of NOTHING people like G. Wilson
Knight have with the more gendered meaning of NOTHING.---chris s.
