Subject: 	1992 Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival
 
The mainstage production for the 1992 Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan
Festival is *A Midsummer Night's Dream*.
 
Henry Woolf, artistic director, is setting the play in the illusionary
world of Hollywood in the 1920s.  He states, "Hollywood the Dream
Factory: Tommy Guns stitching the Twenties together.  Shakespeare on the
Saskatchewan is dedicated to an ensemble company creating living images
of Shakespeare.  The North American dream of the Twenties fits
Shakespeare's AMSND like a velvet glove gleaming with the diamonds of
his poetry."
 
The Festival will preview on July 2nd and 3rd, and open July 4th. The
production will run nightly (except Mondays) at 8:00 pm. until August
16th. There will be matinee performances at 2:00 pm Sundays. Ticket

Henry Woolf has acted and directed in London, Paris, and New York. He
directed the first production of the first Harold Pinter play, The Room,
in 1957. Since then, between his own BBC-TV show, Words and Pictures, he
worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Court Theatre, and
many West End productions, including Rhinoceros, with Laurence Olivier.
He also appeared in the Hollywood film, *Gorky Park*.
 
Known as "the King of the Avant-Garde" in some theatrical journals and
"that attic and basement actor" in others, Henry premiered many English
productions including playing Galy Gay in Brecht's *Man is Man*, Kaspar in
Peter Handke's play of the same name, and the solitary man in Pinter's
*Monologue*. In 1979 he won the Edmonton Critics' best actor award for his
performance as the English comedian Tony Hancock in Hancock's last half
hour.  He currently teaches drama at the University of Saskatchewan.
