In reply to Hardy Cook, I will have to reveal my ignorance about WordCruncher.
All along, I had thought it was a fairly generic word processor type piece
of software, and I suspect that I'm about to be corrected.

My thought of using TeX was to be able to reproduce text in some way vaguely
approximating the form that you get in well designed books. TeX, by means of
either printer or screen drivers, would allow the reader to see the text as
a good printer would lay it out. it would allow us to produce something close
to downloadable facsimile text.

My next suggestion is to choose ANY markup style. WordCruncher is fine, if
that is the most popular. Then we can include several small programs that
will convert the style to straight ASCII, or TACT. They would be simple
pattern matchers and aren't hard to write. I can probably find a grad
who would be interested.

U think that we should get this. It is public
domain and would be great for grad students.

Here is something of importance.
