Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1992 04:10:00 -0500 From: Stuart Lee <STUART@vax.ox.ac.uk> Subject: ALLC-ACH Conference notice ALLC-ACH conference April 5-9th Christ Church, Oxford, UK There are still some places left on the Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing/Association for Computers and the Humanities Conference this April. It promises to be an exciting event with over seventy papers and panels on computing and the humanities. Teaching and research applications will both be discussed and papers ranging over, for example, lexicographical studies, authorship identification, electronic publishing, hypermedia, historical databases, and new techniques in art hitory.In addition there will be plenary lectures by Bernard Quemada of the Tresor de la Langue francaise, and Yorick Wilks of the State University of New Mexico. This year's location for the conference is in one of the most historic and beautiful of Oxford's college, Christ Church. It was founded by Henry VIII in 1532 and its buildings date back to this period. Its Tudor dining hall (where the conference banquet will be held) is the third largest in England. The College incorporates a medieval cathedral, picture gallery of Old Masters and is set in grounds which run down to the River Thames. If you are a member of the ALLC or of the ACH, the cost of the conference, including registration fee, fullboard accomodation will be #295 (pounds) or $590. Registration fee and meals only will be #225 (pounds) or $510. There is now a special registration only rate of Non-members should add an extra #30 (pounds) or $60 to these prices.
