Still you can be the judge of whether it might be of interest --- The recording of Burton's Hamlet has been useful in the classroom for me, and I am very pleased to hear that a film version has now been revealed. In London the following item appeared in The Guardian newspaper on 21 Oct 1991 (p.3): FILM PREMIERE FOR BURTON'S HAMLET A full-length film version of the 1964 New York stage production of Hamlet, starring Richard Burton, is to be screened in Cardiff next month after the film was discovered among the late actor's personal possessions. The 3 1/2 - hour film was intended to go on general release after the play ended its New York run. But Burton decided the film should not be released while there was the possibility of him doing further stage work. His widow, Sally, discovered the film when packing up the couple's home in Switzerland. The proceeds of the premiere, on November 10, Burton's birthday, will go to the Romanian Orphanage Appeal Fund in Wales.
