A graduate student here is working on Shakespeare and the language of
costume, and is seeking documentary evidence of the enforcement of the
sumptuary laws with respect to clothing in England in the Tudor period
(he has lots of information on the statutes themselves: what he is looking
for is evidence that they were enforced).  Can anyone help with references?
 
He would also appreciate any help in contacting Professor R. Mark Benbow,
who is working on the London Aldermen's Court and Bridewell Court minute
books for 1565-1605: an e-mail or HM Post Office address would be welcome.
