Subject:      Toronto Lecture Tomorrow
 
The "Friends of the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library" is a fund-raising
group which holds regular guest lectures at the University of Toronto's
special collections library of the same name.  Although the talks are
often interesting and informative, they are not very well publicized.
(Admission is free, and no obtrusive request for donations is made.
The "Friends" are largely very wealthy business folk, who make donations
well in excess of the average academic salary.)
 
Today I came across a very small announcement in the University of
Toronto *Bulletin* which might be of interest to SHAKSPEReans in
central Ontario, if it reaches you in time:
 
   Thursday, February 21, at 8:00pm.  "18th-Century Editions of
   Shakespeare."  Colin Franklin, British antiquarian bookseller and
   bibliographer, meeting of the Friends of the Thomas Fisher Rare
   Book Library.  Held at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library [which
   is the smaller concrete monolith, just south of Robarts Library,
   on the northwest corner of Harbord and St. George Streets].
 
Sorry for the short notice; I'm not sure I'll be able to get there
myself, but I will try.  Incidentally, please let me know if these
very local announcements seem irrelevant to an international discussion;
I can see that reports of lectures after the fact would be much more
useful to most members of the list.  (Personally, I am curious about
similar activities in New York or London, although they may be too
far away to attend myself.)
